Great magazine, if you ever receive it August 28, 2010 G. Mettetal (Mishawaka, IN USA) I was very excited to subscribe to Scientific American Mind. As a psych professor, I found the articles to be accurate and accessible and a great way to learn more about areas outside my specialty. However it was many months before I received my first issue--and then I noticed that the mailing label stated a renewal date from the time I subscribed, meaning I would end up two issues short.
I have e-mailed the magazine twice, including all identifying information. I received an automated "thank you for message" e-mail each time, but have never received a real response from a real person.
I am so disappointed!Needless to say, I am very unlikely to renew my subscription.
Every Article Fascinating March 6, 2010 D. Braun (Denver, CO United States) Anyone interested in how the mind works can't help but be fascinated by nearly every article in each issue.
Great Magazine February 25, 2010 K. M. Balque (Santa Monica, CA) I look forward to this magazine. Too bad it only comes every other month. If you love learning about the science of the brain, you'll want this magazine.
an excellent magazine January 12, 2010 Haseeb (Tempe, AZ United States) I subscribed to this magazine because I enjoyed reading and pondering on every single article in an issue I picked up at the newstand a couple of weeks ago. So far, I have been very satistfied. Most of the articles are written for people who don't have a background in neuroscience but are written by some of the leading neuroscientists and psychologists. Like Scientific American, every article has a small bibliography at the end or references to explore further into certain topics. Many of the articles are simplyfied versions of studies published in professional journals. This magazine does an excellent job at making ideas in neuroscience more accessible to a broader audience.
I like the "Head Games" column at this end of each issue where various brain teaser puzzles are given. The magazine also reveiws books, movies and documentaries which may be of interest to those interested in neuroscience.
review of magazine order June 9, 2009 J. Boyer 0 out of 18 found this review helpful
I am very displeased at the amount of time I have to wait to receive my magazine subscriptions when you have already charged me in full for both of them. this is the last time I will order magazines through Amazon.
