Product Description Founded in 1865, The Nation is America's oldest weekly magazine, the flagship of the Left, and now the country's most widely read journal of opinion. Published to inform the national debate on critical issues of the day, The Nation seeks to enlighten and empower a community of concerned citizens and influential readers. The Nation has long served as an early-warning system, exposing prejudice, discrimination, and abuse of power through investigative reporting, analysis, commentary, and cultural reviews. Proudly independent of political parties and corporate interests, The Nation exposes, in print and online, issues often ignored by the mainstream media. Championing civil liberties, human rights, economic justice, and peace, The Nation challenges the status quo, encourages dissent, and presents ideas from a variety of voices, always seeking a more tolerant and just future.

Terrible service September 4, 2010 Sue Wilcox-Hall (Springfield, MO USA) I'd love to read The Nation and give a review based on content, but in the two and a half months since I subscribed, I've received two issues, several weeks apart. I have, however, received several demands for payment. Yesterday when they claimed they'd sent eight issues, I told them to cancel the subscription. If their service is that bad, I can do without it.
Is there another source of news and progressive opinion? August 5, 2010 cybersleuth58 (Northern New England) I have been receiving the Nation for several years. I got started during the Bush years when other media sources seemed to be in lockstep, beating the drum for the (Iraq) war. The rise in popularity of Faux News is inversely proportional to the level of intellectual sophistication of its audience. I have subscribed to several progressive publications but they lacked the seriousness and depth provided by the Nation. The Nation is thoughtful, well researched and well written - an effective and direct antidote to the reactionary mainstream media. I look forward to receiving it, especially when something newsworthy arises. I particularly appreciate the impressive credentials of the Nation's contributors; because today's issues can be complicated and confusing. Especially since power brokers are less than candid. The Nation is critical of all hypocrisy whether it comes from the left or the right. Even though my budget is very tight this is one item I do not consider to be dispensable. I need to be informed and I trust the Nation to help me reach that goal. Beware! After you start reading the Nation everything else will appear dumbed down!
when will it ever come April 22, 2010 Gerald W. Singer (Springfield) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I don't think I will ever buy magazines from Amazon again. It is 4/22/10 and I ordered this back in March. I regularly have around 20 magazines subscriptions and I have never waited so long to get my first copy.
Good read February 23, 2010 K. Ingebrigtson (Phoenix, AZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a very "thin" magazine but it packs a lot of very weighty information in it. I bought this as a gift for my Father and he has really enjoyed it.
No magazine after more than 3 months!!! December 14, 2009 Douglas E. Stangler (Seattle) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I ordered The Nation MORE than 3 months ago and I still haven't received an issue. I made numerous calls to Amazon.com and the company they use to process. The Nation customer service has no record of a subscription. This is the first and last time I ever order a magazine subscription through Amazon.com. I will demand a refund soon if I do not get an issue and it having the correct expiration date of a year later. Outrageous!
